I'll admit that OCMS was never my favorite band in the first place, because once you listen to real old-time stuff, they sound so fake, but this album is just boring. A lot of manufactured self-pity without much genuine feeling. Steve Earle's "Oxycontin Blues" is better (and I don't particularly like _Washington Square Serenade_, either, but that song is still better, and you know that Earle knows exactly what he's talking about).
These guys are great. This CD took me awhile to really appreciate but now I love it. They are so talented. Bluegrass/modern
I heard the song "Crazy Eyes" on a jukebox which really blew my mind because these types of songs are usually not ones a person hears in that venue. I cannot say enough great things about this band. When I heard the song I looked to see who was singing it and played every song on the CD and LOVED every song on the CD. I ordered it the next day form amazon. They are insightful and innovative and daring too. I think anyone who listens to this will be a fan.
This is definitely a more produced-sounding OCMS. After hearing about the switch-up in production, I was not expecting much from this album. In this case, difference is good. The CD is still incredible. I've created some OCMS fans with this CD.
i purchased this music some time ago, based on a newspaper recommendation. (so much for that failing media) i was impressed by the weak , wholly unimaginative, unoriginal, and bleakly insipid attempt at meaningfulness; in not only the lyrics, but also the instrumental(lack of) expression. don't waste your time, or money. especially in a down economy.
